Feeding the ducks

When we were kids we would go on nice days and feed the ducks. We did this mostly because it was a cheap form of entertainment but my parents would try to show us "life lessons" on these days. In this one I enjoyed the fact that one duck was not like the others...a rebel in my own mind!

Ducks always seem to swarm you when you have food. This is a good concept, I like the shot. The focus looks good and your colors are nice. I think the section of the ground where the sun is shining in is a little distracting to me though. Try to look at a different angle so the lighting is more consistent. I think this is a good one.

Not a bad composition here. Perhaps a change in the angle would help you to crop out the harsh lighting in the background. Your shadow lighting is nice, but the bright light in the background is distracting. Love the observation of the rebel duck LOL.

I love ducks! I agree about the harsh lighting in the background being a little disctracting

Cute duckies! Too bad the odd one out isn't showing more! It amazes me how ducks still hang around when it's snowy! It's well below zero here all winter and we've got tons of ducks that stay all year!
A wee bit less of the foreground might allow for a better focus of attention.

I like this one. I love the snow and the uneven walkway - I can just imagine the ducks waddling forward to reach the children with the food. I only wish that the odd duck was towards the front and more visible - I didn't notice him at first.

I definitely wanted the odd duck out towards the front more but that duck was really shy and kept towards the back. I ran out of bread too quickly to keep their attention long enough. The other 5 shots I got were of them walking away so definitely a more difficult audience to get to cooperate with me. I still had fun with them (and wondered why they were out in the winter...amazing to me).

This is one of my favorites! I saw some ducks last weekend, while I was in Salt Lake, and I thought it would be cool to try and get some pictures of them, BUT I have a secret fear of ducks. I think you are awesome for actually doing it and keeping patience with them. It turned out great. I agree with everyone else about the lighting, but in some way it helps bring light into the picture. Almost making it better to see the shy "ugly duckling" in the back. Good job!

I kind of like the fact that you took a picture of something that reminded you of childhood but may not do the same for others. I admire that. I too like the little "rebel" in the back. I just wish you could see a little more of him. Good job.

I think a different angle could have made this more interesting. Maybe laying down on the ground (if you dare, but hey anything for a good shot huh?) It would be interesting to see more of their feet or looking up at them. Just an idea that when taking pictures you should try to take the same picture from 5 different angles. You never know what might turn out to make the pictures really interesting.
