Classic Country

This is my father's old guitar. It is pretty trashed now but it reminds me of him and his love of Classic Country music.

This was taken with window light to the right of the frame.

I really like this idea. The white background just makes the picture. I really like how you only showed half of the guitar and how old and worn it looks. This is a great concept. I think a few things that would make it even better, I probably would have shot the other half, so move the guitar to the right side of the frame. The reason for this is because then we would be able to see the strings better, since that half has the thicker strings. It looks like the last string here is missing, and maybe it is, but I keep trying to see if I can find it. Also I would try to zoom out just a bit, because the bottom and top of the body of the guitar are just barely chopped off, so it makes it look like it was on accident, either show us all of it, or chop it off a little more so it looks like it was on purpose. Also I noticed a little shadow around the curve of the middle of the body, I think if that was gone it would be better. Again, I really love this concept, I think this has potential to be a ribbon winner.

Nice concept. I would have liked to see more of the guitar in the shot, not chopped in half. Maybe more like a 2/3rds shot. The color is great and love the wear and the simple background.

This totally looks like it could be an album cover - which I like that concept. I can see where Travis is coming from (I looked for the string too - but if it's missing or broke then it just adds to the wear and tear idea). Well done esp for a first submit!

I like the composition of this shot... maybe it's my monitor or maybe it's the fraying edges of the guitar, but the edge where the guitar meets the bkg looks a little bit off to me...did you dodge? It has that floating look to it (I'm not sure what the technical term is?)

This is excellent. This would have been my favorite for the week if I could see just a little more of the top and bottom. Love the old look and the composition is great! Colors are good too.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I debated not cropping it so tight but I was trying to eliminate the shadow that was showing at the bottom in some other shots. Now I wish I would have chosen one that was not so tightly cropped! Smile I didn't dodge (or whatever the technical term is...I'm not good at all that verbiage either!) but I did brighten the exposure on the wall so you couldn't see so much texture in the wall.

Oh and yes the string is gone! There weren't too many actually on it.

Love the simple white background. That guitar has some awesome texture in it. My parents loved classic country, too... so that's what I grew up with. I think my dad was the biggest Johnny Cash fan that ever lived. I actually hated listening to it when I was younger, but now I love it. My 15-year-old LOVES Johnny Cash. Go figure!
