Music Noise

I really like the way you used camera noise to your advantage here. Although most of the time we want to avoid noise, there are definitely some ways to use it. Although you must have done some type of overlay or something because the noise is too uniform to be normal camera noise. After looking at your EXIF data I noticed that your ISO was only 200, so I'm guessing this is a texture or something, either way I think it adds to the shot. The biggest distraction for me in this shot is the corner of that book on the bottom right, it is just way too oof, it draws my eyes away every time I look at the picture. Other than that, this is well done.

I really am not loving the noise. Maybe because I have such an aversion to it and am constantly fighting it in sports photography. I think instead of noise, a nice texture overlay may have been a better way to go. I like the idea of the vignetting, but the OOF portion of the book Travis mentioned is distracting. I think I would have cropped this a bit tighter. The background isn't necessary and a lot of it seems to be showing. A tighter crop would work better IMO.

I agree with the distracting corner. However I think this is a creative shot as well. I would've never thought to have done cassette tapes. Very clever!

I like the idea of the noise...but....it doesn't really work for me...maybe a different texture? The way it is, it's a little hard to see that you added the noise on purpose, as opposed to a high ISO and bad lighting...?

I like the idea of the noise too, i think it works for this shot of cassette Itapes (would you believe I still listen to them in my car and it's not really that old of a car!) But I am kind of with Jenluvs2scrap, in that I do so much of trying to avoid the noise!

I think your use of noise in this shot is very effective. I think I would like this shot a little better if you cropped in closer, leaving less background next to the items, or even eliminating it all together -- with the edges of some of the pieces going out of the frame. Good job, though.
