Common Abreviations Empty Common Abreviations

  • AFAIK - as far as I know
  • CC - constructive criticism
  • DOF - depth of field, a simple definition would be the area in the picture that is in focus
  • ETA - edited to add, yes this also means estimated time of arrival, but when you see it in a post a lot of times it means they edited their post to add something
  • FL - focal length, the distance from the end of the lens to the sensor
  • FOV - field of view, the part of a scene that can be seen with a particular lens/FL
  • FWIW - for what its worth
  • FYI - for your information
  • HTH - hope this helps

  • IMHO - in my honest opinion
  • IMO - in my opinion
  • IQ - image quality
  • KWIM - know what I mean
  • LOL - laugh out loud, did I even need to list this one?
  • LR - Lightroom, another editing software program offered by Adobe, meant to work hand in hand with other PS products.
  • OOF - out of focus
  • OP - opening post, original post, original poster
  • PP - previous post, previous poster
  • PP - post processing, anything done in editing the picture. Sometimes you will see this as PPing.
  • PS - Photoshop
  • PSE - Photoshop Elements
  • ROFL - rolling on the floor laughing
  • SOOC - straight out of camera
  • TFL - thanks for looking
  • TFS - thanks for sharing

Of course on the Internet people use abbreviations all over the place. I have created this thread as a common place for users to find answers to their questions about what an abbreviation means. I am really drawing a blank right now, so I only have two to start out the list. If you have more just add them here, and I will put them in the OP so they will be easy to find. If you ever have a question on one that you have seen that isn't on the list, just ask here and we will find the answer and list it. I know a lot of you are from 2 peas, I am not listing the 2 peas ones for now. If they start being used a lot then I guess I will post them. For example things the whole family thing, DD, DS, DH, etc. I have never seen those outside of 2 peas, so I won't list them, unless as I just said they start becoming common place here.

I will also try to keep this list alphabetical, so it will be quick to find the one you are looking for.
