Re: My galleries...
There are a lot of photos to look at in those galleries. Perhaps if you could link a few of them here and then we could give you feedback a little easier. It is really difficult to comment on a large number of pictures like that.
Be very Quite
Thanks Travis. Lets try this.

Re: My galleries...
Not a bad shot, I see that the photo was taken in an auto setting on your camera. Do you normally shoot in auto, or do you know how to use the manual settings yet? If you don't you should check out these tutorials.
I think that the colors could use some boost in PPing, but overall its a pretty good shot. The deer has good focus, the background is slightly oof to help us really pick out the deer. I would use a more shallow dof, but I don't think the lens you used will let you go any smaller.
ETA: Oh, if you have the url to the actual picture we could link the image straight here as well, that may make it easier for people to view it and comment on it. I tried to find it, but it will only let the owner, you, see the actual image url.

Re: My galleries...
Thanks for the feedback Travis!
I have tried other settings, but given the opportunity with that deer, I really did not want to have something go wrong. Was really caught off guard with it.
As soon as I get chance I will go over the tutorials.

Re: My galleries...
I love the picture - the fact that the deer is looking right at you is so cool. Great job. I took a look at the others too. The butterfly is a gorgeous picture. The butterfly just pops off of the leaf. My other favorite is the hippo. I don't know why, but I just love hippos. Great job catching him just out of the water.
Can't believe you are just a beginner. Great shots!

Hi Shutch,
Thanks so much for the kind words. Like I said in "my into' I just bought my DSLR around last summer. So far I love it.

Re: My galleries...
I think they are very nice. I'm not usually a big fan of selective color, but I think it works nice for the butterfly...of all of the photos, I like the water flower one the best....I love the reflection.
As for the deer one...It's cool that he's looking at you, but his head is centered and his legs chopped...I know it's hard to remember the "rules" when you only have a second to catch such a shot...but I'd like it better if his head were in the upper left "rule of thirds" area and you could see his whole body.

Re: My galleries...
Thanks Farrah your your input. I'm not sure if I knew about the "rules of thirds" I'll have to look it up.
Re: My galleries...
I talk about rule of thirds, as well as some other composition rules, in a blog post here. This is going to be my next installment to my taking better pictures tutorials that are in the tutorial section. Someday I get to it and I'll have them here. For now you can check it out on that link to my blog.
