About Time

I think this is a unique idea. I definitely wouldn't have thought to do this. I like the movement we can see with the second hand, while the rest of the watch is nice and sharp. I think a couple of composition changes and this could be a much stronger image. I like the angle, it helps lead through the picture with the band going from corner to corner. I just wish it was from the top left to the bottom right instead. The watch almost looks like it is upside down to me. If it ran from the other corners then it would be right side up, at least in my mind. Also, with a long exposure that means the aperture has to close way down, meaning we get a larger dof. I like how you chose a simple background here, and in reality it seems your dof is quite shallow. This helps us to focus on the subject more. I just wish that part at the top right corner wasn't different. It sticks out to me, if the background was all the same I wouldn't even notice it was there really. Overall this is nicely done.

Nicely done and great idea. I wonder what it would have looked like with an even longer shutter speed? At first I didn't even notice the second hand. I had to read your caption and take a second look. That is why I wonder if it would be more obvious with a longer shutter speed. I would have flipped the watch the other way. I feel like it is upside down. Other than that unique take on the challenge.

Love the clarity in this shot and the movement of the second hand. Very subtle but when you find it, it's like a nice little surprise. The only thing I don't really like is your choice of background. I think something like plexiglas would add to the sleek feel of the metal in the watch...and could have been a good opportunity to reflect the second hand movement for a double effect. Also the change in the background in the upper right detracts from the image a bit. I don't mind the positioning of the watch. Like it was casually taken off a wrist and just placed down, not deliberately though. Gives a casual feel.

it took me a while to even find the second hand, somehow flipping the watch, or changing the time I think might have helped.

Nice job on the shot. Such a cool subject to think of. Watch your corners.

A clever idea...but since there aren't a lot of colors in the photo, I think it would be more effective in BW

I love this idea and this shot. I wish I would have thought of this! I don't mind the positioning of the watch. The only thing that is distracting to me is the upper right hand corner... while I think this is the backside of the band, I think it would have been better without that part showing.
