Playing Jacks

This shot is taken with my 12mm and 20mm extension tubes stacked with my 50mm lens. I really think metal jacks would have been better, but I called every where and nobody seemed to have them, just plastic. Oh well, I still like how this turned out.

I love the reflection of the first jack on the tabletop. The blurred background is also a nice touch. Definitely a good color scheme as well.

Great composition and DOF on this shot. One suggestion, OK maybe 2, if you used clear plexiglass or glass from a picture frame, you could get an even better relfection without the scratches of the surface standing out so much. Also, pull back just a bit so the entire reflection of the jack is in the picture. Would round out the composition nicely. Love the hint of the red ball in the background and the jacks leading us to it.

i like the colors together very dramatic. but are jacks supposed to be a dramatic game? i thought there was too much of the black in the bottom of the photo for my eye, but i love the reflections on the table i like it. Smile

I agree that this might have been a bit more effective with metal jacks!! I like the reflection. it would have looked awesome on a flawless surface if you had used the metal jacks! I especially like the red ball!!!

I totally agree that metal jacks would have been awesome, but it turned out great anyway. I love the reflection! It tops off the picture!

I really like your picture. I think everything is very well placed. I even like how you left space at the bottom for the reflection of the jack in focus. Very well done!

I like the red ball in the back that is out of focus. If it wasn't there the shot would not be nearly as effective. I also like the jacks and that one is cut off. The scratches don't bother me, but it might be interesting to see what it looks like on clear plexi glass...

The depth of field on this is amazing. I love the crispness of the jack in the front of the frame. Great composition and the color the red ball in the background adds a lot to the shot.
