How would you rate this image?
Re: pinwheelin'
I think this is a great idea for the challenge. Again, another subject I would have never thought of. The biggest problem with a long shutter speed is that you start losing control over the dof. That is clear in this shot, without being able to get a shallow dof the background is too busy to keep us focused on the subject. I think moving this somewhere else where the background would have been simpler would have helped you out more, or if you waited until it was darker you could have used a wider aperture to help limit your dof while keeping the shutter speed where it was. Overall I think you did a nice job with a difficult challenge.
Re: pinwheelin'
Very nice and I can tell it is spinning because of how it looks on the branches. I would have probably cropped it a bit. I think the rest of the house behind it is kind of distracting. In my mind I see a very boring background (nothing in it) and the pinwheel either on the left or right side. A good take on the challenge. I was having a hard time coming up with something. You really took this outside the box!

Re: pinwheelin'
Really good take on the theme. Would be a stronger image if cropped in closer filling the frame with the pinwheel. The background adds nothing to the image and should be cropped out.
Re: pinwheelin'
love the colors in the pin wheel and the effect, I would have moved it to a place with an even background though to get it to stand out more.

Re: pinwheelin'
Love this one! The idea was so unique for the challenge.
I actually have to disagree with everyone's ideas about the background. I think that it actually adds to the picture. In my mind it is in it's natural environment. I know in photography they say you should try to have a neutral background to add to the shot. I have to disagree with that - sometimes it is just too boring to have it all neutral. I think in this case it adds some perspective and interest to the shot. I think that it is all personal as to what you like.

I like the color. I can see everyone's point about the background being a little distracting, but actually it's necessary for the very fact that without it, we might not realize that the pinwheel is moving...we need the background to be able to see the twigs behind it.

Re: pinwheelin'
This is my other favorite for the week. I disagree with others that have said it is to busy in the back ground and think that really adds to the picture. It is clear what the main subject is of the photo due to the great effect of the spinning wheel. I love how the white is reflective on the left side and it is almost transparant on the right side. I also love how the front of the pin wheel is not moving and how that adds to the effect. I feel like a kid standing there staring at the moving wheel and wondering how it works! Great job!
